We have taken two trip to Raleigh and enjoyed the city both times.

When we arrived the first trip we went to the North Carolina Museum of History at 5 E Edenton St, Raleigh, NC. 27601. We parked next to it in visitor parking lot 1. It was $2 an hour and they only took cards to pay for it,

My mom is handicapped and we really could not find a place to drop her off in front of the museum.

There are picnic tables out front and a food cart.

The musem is free and they have a gift shop, restrooms and restaurant. There are benches along the museum inside for those who need them. There were lots of places for kids to touch items.

Next door is the North Carolina Museum of Natural Science. There are tons of dinosaur exhibits here. They also have a few movies you can purchase tickets for. There are gift shops, restrooms and a restaurant. I suggest you start on floor 4 and take the escolators down. Maybe choose which movie you want to see and work around that time.

Both museums are free and are part of the Smithsonian collection.

There is also a children's museum that looks cool called Marbles Kid Museum.

Places to Dine:

For dinner we went to Steakhouse Angus Barn at 9401 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, N 27617. Make sure to book a reservation ahead at opentable.com. They can very large groups. They go all out in lights for Christmas! Be sure to visit the adorable bathrooms

We all got prime ribs with baked potatoes. They will come around with the butter, sour cream and bacon for the potatoes.

My son got the tomato soup, mom the french soup and I got a salad.

For desert we got the chocolate chess pie heated with ice cream. It was to die for. It was also my birthday dinner so we got a free cake with candles on it.

Breakfast we all enjoyed Briggs in the Park They will only seat full parties and can get crowded.

We also visited the cool train depot with a chocolate factory Videri Chocolate , a Mount Rapmore mural, and a great mall here called Crabtree Valley Mall.

Hotel

We stayed both trips at Marriott's Delta Hotel at 151 Tatum Drive, Durham, NC. We loved it and would stay here again. It was out first stay at a Delta hotel in 2022 It was nice and clean, had a cafe downstairs with Starbucks coffee and a Tony Roma Ribs, Seafood and Steaks. For higher Marriott members they have a pantry (large room) with free snacks. I also chose the $10 food credit as my Marriott welcome gift to use for breakfast the next day.
